A party space like no other, this ergonomic open-plan kitchen offers style and substance thanks to the well-considered made-to-measure Heritage kitchen furniture, which maximises storage space and is part of the Brandt Collection by Brandt Design. Designed in an l-shaped arrangement, which is open to the living and dining areas for optimal use and a minimal footprint, this kitchens work area boasts a central island with ultramodern dual-purpose design.
On the kitchen side of the island, there is a generous sink area with ample work surfaces, deep fireclay flush-mounted Butler sink and swan necked single lever tap in authentic brass. In complete contrast, the living room side of the island unit is designed for social living, featuring a raised wooden bar area with space for four diners to sit on luxury barstools in opulent blue velvet and gold: elegant and practical. The Obsidian Green classic off-black painted finish anchors the cook zone, which is centred around a generous range cooker and 5-ring gas hob framed by a wall of bright white, in-frame cupboards in Shirting painted finish: both by Little Greene. These shaker-style cabinets are finished with industrial-style brass bar handles and an inspired Bronze Vincenzo mirror splashback.
The wall of white Heritage Furniture by Brandt Design is more than storage, offering a practical integrated drinks station with space for a barista-style coffee machine, extra shelving for storing glass and china ware, plus extra power outlets: ideal if family or guests wish to charge their phone, play some music or just unwind with a freshly-brewed coffee. At the other end, counter units make way for more hidden storage, which conceals a mid-level integrated microwave and extra worktop space below so the homeowner is able to present a fuss-free environment ideal for easy socialising and home-entertaining.
Scott Davis, Director, Brandt Design, says “Part of a new extension in a period property, this multi-layered project required significant work to the back of the property in order to create a suitable environment that satisfied the main objective: an open-plan kitchen, living and dining space all in one. With the large amount of floor space and monopoly of natural light from the run of French windows and overhead vaulted skylight, we needed to ensure the kitchen was designed with comparative significance and this is why we chose a 5-piece shaker door in such an identifiable dark green finish.”
“We worked very closely with the client during the concept and design phase, making sure that the living area and dining space were considered at all times, which also included an old water well in the floor. Our final selection of kitchen furniture and appliances complement the homeowners choice of herringbone parquet flooring, bold soft furnishings, tables and chairs, feature wallpaper and decorative lighting to bring a level of maturity, that when needed, can transform into a party space able to hold up to 50 guests. This project combined the social aspects of entertaining and routine nature of everyday family-life and Brandt is very proud to have completed this kitchen in only two weeks, start to finish.”
